This item could be improved by increasing the height from the floor to the bottom of the interior shelf. This increase should be about 6 inches which would give the pillow soild back support so that your pillow would not accidently knock anything on the shelves. Just a thought.

After reading the other customer reviews, I bought this headboard and the matching platform bed with storage drawers. Both pieces were extremely easy to assemble. The concise instructions were step by step and well illustrated. The white color of this brand matches most other assembly-required white furniture pieces you might buy elsewhere so the pieces in our room all look like a set. The materials are cheezy but what low cost furniture isn't these days. You can expect to pay well over $1,000 for a traditionally built bookcase headboard with platform bed. I was a little disappointed to find the headboard and platform bed don't fit together without modifications. I built a box frame of 2x4's to mount the headboard to the bed. I drilled holes and used nice sturdy bolts and large washers so I wouldn't have to worry about the particle board tearing apart as it would if I just used wood screws. One of the other customers reviews said the bedframe would become "un-square" with movement which causes the drawer slides to come out of alignment. Thanks to that review I knew to install reinforcing angle brackets in all the corners to keep the bedframe square. I also installed angle brackets inside the headboard and under the main shelf to prevent any future sagging of the particle board. My modifications added 1-2 hours to the total assembly time. You'll need a drill, bolts, nuts, large washers, three 2x4's and an assortment of angle brackets. These two products are adequate but with some inexpesnive hardware and a few modifications you could have a nice,sturdy,inexpensive and very functional piece of furniture that makes efficient use of small rooms. We love ours!

My daughter outgrew her full size bed and had to be moved up to a queen. At the same time, she had grown tired of her French antique bedroom suite and super-feminine bedding and wanted to redecorate. For me, it was all about trying to make her happy while staying in a very tight budget. So, this headboard was PERFECT! It's clean and contemporary enough for her teenage taste [...]was very affordable. The quality is good and the assembly was quite easy. Highly recommended!

My husband and I put this together while I was 9 months pregnant and our two-year old climbed over us while our 4-year old "helped", even still it was easy to follow the directions and put together. We only had to undo and redo one screw (a record for us!)
This piece was just what I wanted - a bookcase style headboard that would have room for the clock, the lamp, the cell phone, glasses, kids toys, water, spare diapers, books, hand-held video games, etc. This one is perfect.

I bought this for my master bedroom, with a queen sized bed. It fits perfectly. I was hesitant after reading other reviews, but we must've gotten lucky because we had no issues at all. It took my husband about an hour to put it together, and he had no problems. It's strong, stylish and looks good. It didn't chip anywhere and the wood feels like good-quality for the price. It definitely added a little something to our bedroom for minimal cost.
