Comments about Prepac Cherry Monterey King Storage Headboard:
Wonderfully designed item, really beautiful and perfect for a headboard. Very flimsy, not a piece of furniture that will withstand a kids room or high usage. Goes together well, just not sturdy at all.

Comments about Prepac Cherry Monterey King Storage Headboard:
This is a fine looking headboard, giving an appearance far richer than its actual construction, which is fairly flimsy, although VERY heavy, particle-board. We are using it in our master bedroom.
Because it's a headboard and we don't actually attach our bed to it in any structural sense, it doesn't have to take any abuse, so its flimsiness of construction is not a real drawback. Its bookshelf design is very useful and attractive, and was something I was unable to find in any furniture store.
We have an oversized Serta Perfect Sleeper mattress that is slightly too tall for this design. There of course were no options for taller "feet," so we solved the problem by setting it onto 4x4 blocks of wood. It's an effective, if somewhat inelegant, solution.
It arrives in a flat, elongated box that opens to reveal a large number of fairly nondescript rectangular pieces of particle board. This starts out to be a bit confusing, and the instructions, as usual with furniture that needs assembly, consists of wordless pictograms. But the pieces turn out to be fairly easy to identify, and the pieces fit together unusually well and easily, resulting in somewhat less cursing than is generally encountered during assembly of items of this kind.
Because the pictogram is unclear, we installed one piece of trim backward. Attempting to remove it resulted in the unavoidable breaking of the unnecessarily flimsy plastic dowels that attached it to the main headboard, leaving parts of the dowels both in the trim and in the headboard. They could not be removed manually or with any kind of pliers, so we had to drill them out with a drill and replace them with wooden dowels we got at a local hardware store. Had they used regular wooden dowels rather than these stupid plastic ones, or had the instructions been clearer, we would not have had this problem.
We like it and have bought the identical style for a single bed we have, and bought similar side tables from this same vendor (BedroomFurniture.com). I recommend this to anyone who wants a bargain on a very nice looking, exceptionally useful headboard and doesn't have some childish compulsion to impress snooty, nitpicking friends.
WARNING: Some hammering is required, and while some of it can be done with a regular hammer, some of it MUST be done with a rubber mallet that won't mar the finish, or some other method must be employed to protect it from dents.

Comments about Prepac Cherry Monterey King Storage Headboard:
I just wish the stabilizers went all the way to the floor, although we are using it w/o attaching it to the bed itself. I would feel more secure with that bit of extra length. We also had two small plastic/wood? dowel type pieces that weren't identified in the instructions and there were two holes that never got used so I think that maybe those were modifications that never made it to the instruction sheets.

Comments about Prepac Cherry Monterey King Storage Headboard:
We have a king bed that fits perfectly between the windows, so any nightstand would block the window. We were looking for a storage headboard, where our books and cell phones and a laptop would fit nicely without creating extra clutter, and possible to eliminate the idea of a night stand altogether.
This headboard suits our needs perfectly. It fits well with other furniture in the room, color-wise, and doesn't look pretentious or cheap.
Very good deal, easy to put together, and serves the purpose.
We are pleased and would recommend this product.
