I was very happy with this bench. The description did not say that the benches opened and had room to store items. I was happy to find that they did have storage.

We use this corner bench in our breakfast nook. It is a little smaller than we thought it was going to be, but overall it serves its purpose of adding extra seating. The seats lift up and have a storage area which is convenient. We keep our cookbooks in them.This corner bench isn't the best quality, but for [$] bucks we can't complain.

I am sorry, I have not assembled the unit yet. It is a gift for a young mother and her child. Their home is being remodelled and as soon as it is complete I will be assembling the unit. The child (23 months old) is in remission from brain cancer treatment.

This nook bench was a perfect choice for us. It matched our existing set perfectly, it provides storage under each bench and also creates more seating at our dining room table for guests. Everyone thinks the set came together. Assembling it wasnt bad at all and we wanted the long end of the bench opposite of what the direction gave. If you want to open up a room and create more living space, a breakfast nook is the way to go. I would recommend putting nook cushions if you are not comfortable with the hard seats.

I live in Simi Valley but I purchased the bench for my son's family in San Diego. They are very happy with the bench but would like to have cushions available for it.
